Sally, It's great that you are so involved and care so much, as do I. To my knowledge, there is no public info available about the Tue. 7:30 meeting. The meeting conficts with the National Honor Society inductions in the MS.

mandalayparent, no need to get defensive and start pointing fingers....sally has been one of the few people on these boards to report the facts since it seems like many members of this community do not have a clue as to what is going on..(remember 82% of our community did not even vote!)

The budget failed so you didn't get what you want and the kids lose. I don't want to see the kids lose but there shouldn't be another vote unless the administrators cut their cost. Do we need a assistant superintendant? Do they need so many secretaries? Nobody in corporate have secretaries any more. Let the administration give back instead of taking away from the children. The administrators can do without bonuses for a few years. Everyone everywhere is getting cut backs, having to contribute more to health insurance, getting their pensions cut, why are school districts the last strong hold? Look what health insurance costs did to the automobile industry in this country. No wonder why more and more school systems around the country are investigating privitization. Stop the madness, why are the only variable costs in the budget related directly to the children, why can't we vote on administrator and teacher benefits...level the playing field, people are losing their homes in Wantagh because they can no longer afford to live here!!

idea2004 ---- you have some great points!! THE WHOLE PUBLIC SYSTEM HAS TO CHANGE!! IT IS THE MOST UNNATURAL MONOPOLY!! MAYBE WE SHOULD BE WRITTING OUR POLITICIANS AND FIGHT FOR THE VOUCHER SYTEM TO REIMBURSE PEOPLE FOR GOING TO PRIVATE SCHOOL. MAYBE SOME COMPETITION WOULD HELP THE SYSTEM. PRIVATE HS HAVE TO CHARGE 7K PLUS FOR TUITION THAT IS WAY MANY PEOPLE CHOSE PUBLIC SCHOOL BECAUSE THEY CAN'T AFFORD THE HIGH TAXES WE PAY PLUS A PRIVATE SCHOOL TUITION. CHANGE WILL COME BUT IT IS GOING TO BE TOUGH.

backintheday The voucher system is a great idea and that's of course what I meant when I referred to privitization. I know it's already in place in many states Florida, Utah, Georgia, but the schools don't like it when you challenge them especially WANTAGH. Could they not have what our kids NEED, pay for performance should be the mantra. That's what the voucher system fosters. Those states that embraced that caused positive change in their public school systems as well. And after all it's about our kids being educated appropriately to become self-sufficient successful adults, and if we as parents don't have strong influence over that, then that's a problem. Right now our votes mean little, the school board rubber stamps what the administration wants, the citizens of Wantagh have very little say. Think about it and what part of the budget we have a vote in...look at all the "fixed" costs. It's purposely set up like that so you're suckered into thinking that if you vote no it directly hurts the kids. Meanwhile the people who make the important decisions about our kids (administrators, teachers) keep getting raises, increased benefits every year regardless of whether that's in line with the economy or whether they've successfully "taught" our kids. What other type of job in the world these days has that lack of accountability associated with it. STOP THE MADNESS NO RE-VOTE!!!

avg768 - I would run now except I KNOW there would be repercussion agains my children. I do not want my kids treated differently from teachers, administration and peers when the tough choices are made and believe me I don't mean to be cynical but I have seen it happen.
