omega3, I think your right about the votes for :Cucci votes 2107 Sturniolo votes 1898, it doesn't make sense for them to get so many votes when there weren't that many pass votes. These two members of BOE were unopposed, they only needed 1 vote I guess? Why would anyone vote for them unless they were happy with what has been happening with the budget for the last several years?
That brings us to the real problem here which is two things; First - this board (BOE and/or BAC) did not explain this part of the vote or the reason for the above average tax increase in Wantagh. Second - people must learn to listen.

I ditto Lilly on the re-vote. This should not be a matter of the yes vote vs the no vote and who can win. This is about recognizing that the vote demonstrated that there is a clear problem in the community which needs to be addressed. Rallying people to win the vote on the same vote will only be damaging for future votes and the sense of community that we "love". I hope that the revote will provide a compromise that will provide confidence to all that we are working together "to make a difference" as they say here in Wantagh.

To omega3, not all signs were on vacant or town property, many signs were on homeowner's property, like my own, who wanted to support the budget. Just like if I wanted to support a certain political candidate. Also driving around Nassau today, I saw signs in many other communities for their own bugets and/or school board candidates so this district was not alone. I even saw a huge "Thank You" banner outside of West Hempstead High School. Is that an insult directed to those that voted against their budget? And juding by the outcome of the Wantagh vote, I hardly think that these signs "lead around" the voters. This district has a hard road ahead of itself, and arguing about where the signs were placed does nothing to solve anything.

I know that an earlier post said the meeting on Tuesday must be in the morning because the state needs an answer by Wednesday. That means a majority of the community will not be available to be there. Why wait until Tuesday to have this meeting, why not tomorrow night or Friday night? I know this is a holiday weekend, but judging by what's happening on this board and in this community, I think alot of people would make an effort to be there.

THE BOE WILL RECONVENE AT 7:30PM IN ROOM 150 AT THE HIGH SCHOOL ON MAY 27TH IN ORDER TO ACCOMMODATE TO THOSE PEOPLE WHO CAN NOT ATTEND THE MORNING MEETING...
And if anyone wants to know why it is not being held in the auditorium...well it is because there is an HONOR SOCIETY AWARDS CEREMONY taking place.

Loveforwantagh-when we revote the budget can we also revote the third gym (4 votes) and $5 million future dollars. Let's make this an opportunity...nothing sacred in the search for concensus includng contracts. We need productivity not bureaucracy.

hightax - why wait until you children are out of the schools to run for the BOE? Why not do it now so you can help make those tough choices that will effect your children!!

This forum is open to all members of our community.

Sally - don't get so defensive. I think I am pretty involved yet I don't know nearly as much as you do. I was just asking a question.
