My wife, Sue, and I were discussing the restless wind once again blowing through the administrative wing of our school district. When the conversation quickly turned to the inevitable issue of "loyalty", Sue said she really appreciated the fact that Maureen Goldberg has stayed with Wantagh Schools for her so many years. We recalled our first interactions with her, then Maureen Noeth, in PPS, back when one of our young children was being evaluated. Out of courtesy, I am not going to zero-in on that year, but it was a while back, much further back than the tenure of probably any other Wantagh administrator I have ever known. We both agree that Maureen has certainly made a commitment to Wantagh, to our children, and our schools, as well as having made many, many invaluable contributions to our district in every position she has ever held, here.
Pointing fondly to any of our best administrators (our best leaders) over the decades past, long-term dedication was a hallmark of all of their careers in Wantagh. By that I mean, their each having placed a higher value on their relationship with Wantagh's children, parents, teachers, and taxpayers in general, than they did (or easily could have) on advancing their own careers faster and perhaps more financially lucratively by jumping ship and chasing personal opportunities in other districts, chiefly for instant economic gratification, than staying the course had gotten them.
Maureen Goldberg is certainly one of those leaders whose long, dedicated service has made Wantagh such a great town.
Sue and I thank you!
