Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos, a long-time supporter of LI school districts, has been ousted from his leadership post amid a corruption scandal which could land him in jail (and out of the State Senate altogether). The good news out of this sad tale is that the new Senate Majority Leader is John Flanagan, a fellow Long Islander, and immediate past Chairman of the State Senate Education Committee.
The bad news is that Flanagan is no longer Chair of the State Senate Education Committee, and in all probability, the chair of that critical committee will probably pass to an upstate Conservative senator. This will be an important development to watch for.
Wary,
