A little change-up today. Here is a press release about the development of a new kind of paper designed especially for printing financial documents. It is thinner (lighter, less expensive to mail), more opaque but brighter (easier to read the fine print), and capable of being printed upon using a variety of inks, pigments, and dyes. It is produced and sold in large rolls for mass printing on gigantic web-offset printing presses, or very large, high-volume inkjet printers that print massive volumes of data on continuous-feeding rolls of paper which get cut and folded after the roll is printed upon.
More important, careful reading of the article reveals that 100% of the electricity used to make this special new kind of paper comes from certified renewable energy sources, primarily wind, in this case.
Did you know that there are stores in Manhattan that only sell...various types of papers?
It is nice to see that technology innovation is alive and well, in America!
Cool?
