U.S. won an narrow, late victory in its first round match against Ghana. The winning goal was made by a sub heading the ball into the net following a corner kick, and surprised nearly everyone.
The bigger story is how massive is the interest in soccer right now. My company, in response to employee requests, bought a sports package and a DVR for our corporate lunch room and we are recording and playing all World Cup matches. In response to an email soliciting interest and requests for special matches, one of the first responses came from our CEO, for the U.S.-Ghana match. That is what you call top-down enthusiasm. We have people working for us from many nations of the world, and this is a really big deal!

Chris Wendt (Former PAL Soccer Coach)
