Huntington UFSD has decided to restore Full-day K in September, after having reduced to half-day K in 2011. Their budget as proposed will be within the tax cap limits. Miller Place is proposing to start Full-day K for the first time in September, pending passage of their budget in May. Also pending passage of their budget in May, Floral Park-Bellerose is proposing to extend their half-day kindergarten program from 2-1/2 hours to 4-1/4 hours (not meeting the State minimum of 5 hours for "Full-day K", or the transition aid that goes with full-day kindergarten). Presuming that all 3 districts plans are fulfilled, then only East Meadow will bare the stigma of still having an old-school "half-day" kindergarten on Long Island. Wantagh is in a good place with our Full-day K. Link to source (Newsday dot com),We should all be proud. I am. Chris Wendt
