Long Island had two finalists among the Top 10 Intel Competition awards, both 17-year old high school seniors. Aron Coraor from Huntington High won $25,000 and took 6th place for his study of formation of the surface of the moon, which involved chemistry, physics and geology. John Clarke from Regis High in Manhattan won $20,000 and took 9th place for his study of X-ray emisssions and the magnetic fields of Jupiter. In addition to the money prize winners... "Long Island had two other finalists -- Jericho High School seniors Kaitlyn Shin and Preeti Kakani. Both are 17.
Shin focused on microscopic black holes, with the bulk of her work taking place at Columbia University....
