...approved Monday by voters in the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District. New Synthetic Turf Fields will be installed at: - Mepham High School
- Calhoun High School
- Bellmore JFK High School
- Grand Avenue Middle School
- Merrick Avenue Middle School
The bond, for $49.6 million, passed by 3,441 yes votes vs. 2,717 no votes. Teachable moment for BoE Trustees and Senior Administrators: Bellmore-Merrick CHSD attended FIRST to the business of implementing high-end SCIENCE Research and Academic programming, and their students have brought home numerous competitive Intel or Siemens awards and accolades in recent years, and, now, AFTER they have won their laurels for academics, the district is spending some well-deserved money on state-of-the-art athletic fields. Wantagh parents should be wondering where is Wantagh's high-end scientific research curriculum? ...Wantagh's first Intel or Siemens Competition awards? Or, rather, when will this happen? It should not be any question of "IF", I mean since we already spent money and installed a high-end synthetic turf athletic field (which I supported and voted for as a BoE Trustee at the time). Just saying... Chris Wendt
