Well, it certainly was one of the more interesting BOE meetings. In no particular order:
Three community members were appointed to an audit committee. Credentials seem good. I was puzzled that they were sworn into something (inaudible) by Elaine, District Clerk.
Lots of parents showed up to voice support for full day Kindergarten.
Although a special investigator has concluded his/her report regarding allegations against Mr. D'Angelo, Mike Cucci refused to answer questions about it. He did have trouble recalling when the BOE was provided the results of the investigation until another BOE trustee answered that it was December. He did confirm we are, however, still paying Mr. D'Angelo full salary for the time being. Mr. Cucci appeared very uncomfortable with any questions related to this - the questioning seemed to strike a chord in him.
Ms. Goldberg read a prepared statement regarding the results of the enrollment committee findings. Three big topics were explored by the committee: - Rezoning/closing a school - will not be pursued - Princeton Plan - will not be pursued (citing unspecified research that school transitions are traumatic for kids) - Full day Kindergarten - will be pursued, next step to study fiscal implications
Ms. Goldberg stated that this recent committee report should be up on the district website within a few days.
The BOE received an inordinate amount of communication in the last two weeks or so. I would venture to guess a lot of it was about full day Kindergarten.
Challenge Day, a 1 day anti-bullying program (funded by 6-12?) was held for sophomores. It was impactful and well received. A question I had that I didn't ask is why some sophomores opted out of the program. But those open spots were filled by kids in other grades.
The Foundation will be looking into offering an SAT prep program sometime in the future.
Mandalay PTA expressed gratitude for Sandy help from the rest of the town.

Does anyone know if all those names on the agenda actual wrote to the BOE or was it a petition? The superintendent issue of us paying w/o any information as to when a final disposition will be made is ludicrous.
