Supposedly, a fight between two 7th graders. Good police were called. Bad an ambulance was needed. Add this to a GROWING list of cr!@@y behavior in this community. What the heck is going on in this town? I've heard way too many complaints about: - unsupervised kids drinking, loitering and hanging out (worse, doing damage to people's property). Some parents condoning this by dropping their kids off at party spots like school, lake, house parties, etc.
- the whole Mel bullying debacle that went unnoticed for YEARS by the administration and BOE
- the incredibly rude, illegal behavior of vandalizing the Beech playground (fundraised by PTA parents, playground equipment unusable, inconveniencing 700 kids the first 2 warm months of school)
- possibly poor conduct at sports games rearing its ugly head again?
- spraypainting the Beech clocktower
This is all from what, August? On Friday evening, we were out with friends at dinner. Driving to the restaurant, you saw groups of teenagers on every other block, just hanging out. That always has bad written all over it. One friend commented, that it's not just the hanging out, but 'these kids today are so disrespectful' and of course, Halloween is coming up. So, is it technology (texts, internet) where we know all/everything immediately? Or, the degree of normal teenage hanging out angst really has increased to the unacceptable level? To the point it is out of control and it's a serious community problem?

Lilly,
Its the parents, not technology!
I've heard it worse than dropping the kids off, I've heard stories about parents purchasing the alcohol for the kids. What I've heard, is some parents have stockpiles within the house (beer in basement/garage refrigerators) and don't ask questions about it disappearing. This is done so in the event the authorities show up, the parent can claim ignorance and place the blame on the youth.
Bottom line, todays parents are more interested in being friends with their children and vicariously reliving their youth.
