...and they hope it is not another freight train coming at them! A few days ago, the Elmont school board had decided to re-submit the same budget that voters had recently defeated. Then, suddenly, on Saturday, the Board decided to cut $1 Million from their original proposal and submit that for a re-vote on June 19th. This could turn out to be another freight train at the end of the tunnel. This revised budget is still over the "cap" and will require a 60% super majority to "pass". Most of the public commentary has focused on the "Two Percent Tax Cap", so this is a big gamble by the Elmont BoE.
