Since, the BOE elections are approaching and we will have to decide to elect 1 of 3 individuals (none of which I know), could anyone please state the candidates qualifications. Please include education backgrounds and work experience (both current and past), which in my opinion should be extremely important, since the individual should be highly educated and have business qualifications. Thanks, in advance for the information.

There have been more than 100 people visiting this site since the first request was posted, and nobody knows anything about anybody? Talk about a "clean" campaign! (Talk about anything...talk about the weather...about the lopsided "victories" of Wantagh over Seaford in lacrosse and in baseball...about, what?)
The only place I have read anything has been on Patch, which noted:
"The three candidates running to fill Leuchtmann's seat are Tony Greco, Stephen D'Amato and Peter Brasile. Both Greco and D'Amato have been involved with the Wantagh Budget Advisory Committee. Brasile is a founding member of the Wantagh Football Club youth program. "
Not very informative. But it is early, as these things go.

Here some information, that I was able to dig up from my friend, who is a teacher/parent in the district.
Peter Brasile - Unknown Profession, Unhappy with the way football is being handled. Stephen D'Amato - Pharmacist (so we know he has an educational background), Unhappy with the lack of full day kindergarten. Hopefully, he has other issues, since this will not help me. Tony Greco - Disabled Police Officer, unknown issues which he stand for, but wife Lisa is very active in the PTA, she also is a disabled police officer (don't know if that is relevant, just found it interesting).

With the pending introduction of our new superintendent, the permanent, full-time professional educational leader of the Wantagh School District, there is one key qualification for all board members, new and old. That is the personal, individual wisdom to allow themselves to be led, and to follow, the vision, the direction, the leadership of our new leader, the Superintendent of Schools.
The biggest part of that kind of wisdom, of good boardsmanship, is demonstating the personal humilty to recognize and accept that the individual board members are not, themselves, superintendents, nor are they collectively the superintendent.
Something for the three aspiring board candidates to think carefully about. Something for the four incumbents to do some self-examiniation about, the next time they gather together behind that board room door.
To get a handle on this concept, think about the fact that we pay the superintendent good money to run our district according to his vision. Board members don't get paid a dime.
Students, parents, taxpayers...all have every right to expect our money's worth out of both the new professional superintendent who is our educational leader, and, the unpaid volunteer board members, who are not educators, but who serve in policy-making and budget-setting roles, only.
Food for thought....
