I posted the following on Wantagh-Seaford Patch this morning:
We've already built the classrooms to accommodate Full-day K!
The Wantagh Board of Education meets this Wednesday at 8:00 PM.

The results of the "committee that was formed recently to discuss declining enrollment" should be released. Questions at BoE meetings elicited responses that the board had just received the report, and, the board had not yet read it.
That begs the question: is there any way that the BoE would not have been all over that report the day after it was delivered?
What does the board's silence reveal?
Public school districts and parochial education institutions all over the tri-state are grappling with declining enrollment. North Bellmore, Mineola, Smithtown, and other places are closing or considering closing schools. Smithtown's version of the declining enrollment committee recently KO'd the Princeton Plan and recommended closing a school in Nesconset. www.smithtownradio.com/2012/01/05/2304/breaking-news-committee-officially-recommends-closing-smithtown-school/
Board action is expected next month.
It is unproductive for the Wantagh Board of Education to shroud this report in secrecy. Let's all hear the enrollment projections and the recommendations. The rest of us taxpayers have a stake--and a voice--in this situation.
I urge Wantagh to institute Full-day Kindergarten to increase the effective utilization of elementary classrooms. For efficiency, educational enhancement, Full-Day K should be consolidated in one building in a modified Princeton Plan...in the next school year.
We've already built the classrooms to accommodate Full-day K!
