A Wantagh native, Matt Coleman, was murdered this month and a Councilman and former Mayor was also gunned-down in the pot-farming region of Mendocino County, California. (See other posts). In Wantagh, there is pot traffic on the grounds of at least one of our schools. The cops are aware of this, but will tell you their enforcement activities are focused on heroin traffic, which takes place in the LIRR and McDonalds parking lots. The motive for both of the recent murders out in Mendocino was thought to involve the discovery, by the victims, of illegal pot farms. Revenge killing for a very recent federal drug task force busting 100 people in a pot farming operation was also articulated as a possible motive in Matt Coleman's murder. However, authorities have now discovered that Opium Poppies (from which heroin is made) are now being grown out there where pot is the major cash crop. It is now beleived that the Councilman had found a heroin operation was shot mutliple times near the site. They are investigating whether there is a connection between Matt Coleman's murder (in the same immediate locale) with the identical M.O. and this newly discovered heroin operation. There is a witness to the Councilman's murder, and a suspect being sought in connection with both murders. www.pressdemocrat.com/article/20110829/ARTICLES/110829487/1350?Title=Details-emerge-in-deadly-attack-on-Jere-MeloChris Wendt
