Question for either Sally or Lilly. Since the contracts for administrators are negotiated annually, and will be looked at soon. Would any changes to those contracts be for the 2009-2010 budget?

forthekids, the following contracts are up for renewal June 2008:
Asst. Super for Business Asst. Super for Instruction Supervisors Custodial
I have no idea what anticipated changes and increases in those contracts are in the 08/09 proposed budget. That one is definitely a question for Mr. Christie.

Thanks hightax.
NY state ed works for me as a source. My comparison was fine bc it was apples to apples - 08/09 admin compensation with 08/09 projected enrollment. If we wait for BOCES to do an analysis, it will have a 2 year lag time and they will charge each participating district a $20k non-negotiable surcharge for the service. (Apologies for the sarcasm again - can't seem to avoid it today.)
The info from hightax's state ed dept. link does beg lots of questions. For example, how long ago were these 08/09 salary & benefits negotiated when technically the contracts only expire this month? By whom? The benefits of the supers look like very hefty increases in these times so exactly what is included in them? Why is it so much work to get information when this info is readily available in other districts and the district has been filing reports with the state ed dept. all along?

I think these are all questions to ask Mr.Christie and have your analysis gone over with him as well, just for the sake of accuracy. Thank You.

I would, however, like to understand the answers to the questions about the contracts I asked before. It seems like those are long-standing BAC questions which have never been adequately answered. It's more like "here's the contracts, now live with them". Maybe it's more of a question for the Board of Ed. This is the same thing again. I'm not saying this to be contentious. I'm just recording what I've observed.

Lily,I would still ask Christie and see what he says, and while I do not underestimate your math ability, this BLOG and everything on it has me very skeptical. It feels like we a talking in underground silence(My sarcasm kicking in now.) ;D

Summaries of some parts of some previous contracts were reviewed in a cursory manner. There has got to be a precise explanation for +19-36% benefits increases the state ed dept is reporting. It can't be all health insurance premiums. How do we contact the board of ed without writing going through the process of formal letters? Today, I appreciate sarcasm.

Lily,Contact the board liason,Elaine Mcguigan. That would be the most logical, but my first step would be Christie, everything you need is public info and I am sure he can help you.
I will not assume any info on this web-site to be accurate and there is a disclaimer to back me up,my thoughts,my opinion and we know everyone has an opinion(sarcasm AGAIN)
Thanks. ;D

Thanks for the suggestion of contacting Elaine.
Is it sarcasm or puns that are the lowest form of humor? ;D I'm looking forward to some higher forms of humor again. We need it.

With the appointment of Mr. Brown as asst. principal of the high school last night, that shoots down the possibility of any savings from reduced headcount (doling out asst. principal responsibilities amongst current department chairs).
It was bittersweet. Kudos to the one board trustee who voted no on the motion. He said it was not a comment against Mr. Brown but perhaps that salary could be used to reinstate the BOCES and sports cuts. While 'proof of performance' remains to be seen, Mr. Brown is a very good choice for the asst. principal role. However, there's a certain irony there that saving on that position could have funded the cultural arts cut.

It is very disappointing that the BOE appointed a new vice principal in the high school. (again, nothing against Mr. Brown). Does this mean that they will appoint someone to head the guidance department? The high school already has a dean of discipline, why do we need an assistant principal? lilly, I couldn't make it to last nights meeting, can you tell me which Board trustee voted no. Thanks
