The last time Wantagh's school budget was defeated, the Board of Education, under the guise of listening to "The Community", decided to put up the exact same budget for a re-vote. I think the operating phrase for the BoE's action at the time was "a lightning rod for negativity", when "The (REAL) Community" came out in force to trounce that budget once and for all. That BoE misadventure, in my mind's eye, was a huge sell-out of Wantagh's kids as well as the rest of us, the taxpayers who got slammed with a huge tax increase courtesy of the BoE pulling back ALL of the advertised Allocated Fund Balance which was supposed to have been used to reduce the tax levy that year. wantagh.patch.com/articles/question-of-the-day-do-you-support-revised-seaford-school-budget-proposalWell, today in Seaford they are voting on a down-sized budget from the original defeated budget, one that now has nearly exactly the same tax implications as a contingent budget would carry. Will it pass muster with the Seaford taxpayers? I can hardly wait for the results. In high anticipation.... Chris Wendt
