The NY State Board of Regents has appointed John King, Jr. as the new Commissioner of Education. Holding degrees from Harvard, Yale, and Columbia, King will take office July 15th, at a salary of $212,000 (to run the whole show for public education in NY State).
King is being promoted from his current position as Deputy Commissioner, a post he has held since 2009. The Regents thought it was somehow relevant to include the facts that King will be the first NY Commissioner of Education who is Puerto Rican and black, plus being the youngest, at 36 years of age.
Good luck to our new, young, highly educated Commissioner of Education, John King, Jr.
