We have found Legislator Dave Denenburg to be accessible and proactive, a very good friend to the Wantagh School District and the only politician who actively supported Wantagh residents against the FWJC cell towers.
Due to possible re-districting, we are in danger of losing Dave Denenberg.
He now needs our help by a show of community support for him at a meeting tomorrow.
Monday, April 9th Legislative Headquarters 1550 Franklin Avenue Mineola (and Old Country Road)
Due to the short notice, please pass onto as many people as you can.
Thank you.

I went to this hearing. I didn't realize how politically motivated this move was on the part of the county legislators until I experienced and saw it firsthand. It was absolute BS. The blatant contempt, utter disdain and rudeness that the legislative council displayed towards constituents was appalling. (And to sound like my kids, "they started it", they being the legislative council very rude from the beginning, set a bad tone for the rest of the meeting.) A very eye opening experience. They should be ashamed of themselves. I found myself appreciating a WSD town hearing, BOE meeting or TofH hearing - there may be politics but for the most part, those in elected authority conduct themselves in a bit more open, civilized way, the way a polite democratic society should be.
There is a letter to the editor in this week's WS Citizen from the League of Women Voters. The LWV is party agnostic and they explained the issues very clearly.

I wrote something brilliant, then erased it, as being not politically realistic.
The only silver lining to this for Dave, and for those of us who respect the job he has done, is that this action provides Dave with the perfect opportunity to run for the NY State Senate.
Psss't: Chuck, you hear that? It's the Denenberg Express runnin' right down the Babylon Line, and on up all the way to Albany!
Go Dave!

current status as of May 12th (quoting from Wantagh.Patch.com): A Nassau County judge has ruled that the legislature cannot vote Republicans’ proposed redistricting into law for this year’s election.
Judge Steven Jaeger ruled in favor of Nassau Democratic legislators in their suit against County Executive Ed Mangano and Republican members of the legislature and granted a temporary restraining order to stop the maps from going into effect this year .... The case may return to court May 26. apparently this redistricting would have involved moving over 500,000 voters into new districts. wantagh.patch.com/articles/nassau-judge-ceases-vote-on-redistricting-2www.newsday.com/long-island/nassau/judge-blocks-nassau-redistricting-plan-1.2873091 and many other OpEds and stories

I hope this is accurate. Wonder how many court appeal levels it will go through after this.
The legislators were expected to vote it in Monday. With this court decision, I guess they can take Monday off. lololol.
Good for Dave (and us). For the moment, truth prevails.

The on-going mess continues. Supposedly, we now face losing Dave Denenberg, Wantagh is grouped with Seaford in the new district lines and some guy from Long Beach is representing us?!?!?!
The Nassau GOP should be tarred, feathered and voted out of office for creating this expensive mess in this economic environment.
