Adoption of and proficiency with emerging technology is an interesting topic. The following actual vignettes are more than merely amusing.
Ten years ago my two grandsons, 5 and 3 years old were working on the PC in my home office. There was a problem and the two of them came running upstairs, and the older was yelling: "Pops...there's a problem with the computer!" I asked him what was the matter, he replied that he didn't know. So I asked what happened, and the 3-year old piped up, "It CRASHED!"
As cute as I thought that deduction by a 3-year old was then, last week's vignette was even more striking.
My 2-1/2 year old granddaughter picked up her mom's PDA on Friday. Her mom, curious, asked her, what are going to do with my phone? "I want to color some pictures!" Her mom informed her, that, sorry, but you cannot color pictures with a phone. Only two and a half years old, she pushed a couple of buttons on the PDA, showed it to her mother, and said, politely, "Yes you can...it's an App', mom!"
Amazed,
