Ed Mangano and the Nassau Legislature have lost control of the finances of Nassau County. Therefore the county's finances are being taken over by a state agency.
Mangano boasted about a big settlement with the CSEA Union, the largest union in the county, and had touted this as a reason the County should have been allowed to keep control of its own finances.
What was that settlement?
It was a 2-tier wage schedule, applicable only to future hires, and without regard to the fact that the County has a hiring freeze in place. Savings - zero.
So, should we now expect a big increase in County taxes?
I would guess so.
Ed did call me last night about the snow and who to call in a non-emergency, emergency. He said he was Ed Mangano anyway.
