From the Superintendent's Corner on the Monroe CT Website: "The proposed 2011-12 education budget will come in at a .71% increase over the current year when Superintendent Palmer presents it to the Board of Education at Monday’s budget session. A hard freeze on the teachers’ contract, a full replacement on the health insurance plan, and the implementation of STEM Academy at Masuk are the major drivers to help bring this budget in at a minimal rate of increase. I have confirmed that the "hard freeze on the teachers' contract means 0/0, meaning, steps are frozen and no increase in the salary schedule. The Monday referred to as the day the Superintendent presented her budget to the Board of Education was December 13, 2010. It is now one month and one week later than that...do you know where YOUR school district's budget is? Wowed. Really. Chris Wendt
