While Dave McDonough has certainly "been there" in Albany as our representative in the Assembly. and although for many years Dave McDonough has fought the good fight on our behalf in Albany, the fact of the matter is that Dave McDonough is on the wrong side of the aisle up in the State Assembly, and has no real power to accomplish anything, legislatively. Hence, despite his having been there a long time and regardless of how hard he has fought, he has accomplished essentially nothing as far as enacting tax relief or spending control, either in Albany for the state, or here, locally for our school districts and the tax-paying voters of Wantagh.
You may have seen the campaign signs around town boosting John Brooks for State Assembly. John is running for Dave McDonough's seat. He is a friend of mine, but more importantly, John is a former member of the Seaford Board of Education, so he knows, first hand, the actual needs of real Long Island school districts at the state lawmaking and funding level. Most important, however, is the fact that, unlike Dave McDonough, John Brooks is a member of the majority party perennially in control of the NY State Assembly. So let's not lose this important opportunity to take advantage of a real CHOICE for our representative in the State Assembly and vote for John Brooks on Tuesday!
John Brooks WILL be able to get things done for Wantagh & Seaford, unlike his predecessor.
I endorse John Brooks for Assembly and hope you will consider voting for him!

Well, the votes are in, and Dave McDonough will "be there" (in Albany and at various other local events and festivities) for Wantagh & Seaford for two more years. Too bad Dave's just "being there" does not get the Wantagh (or Seaford) School District or our taxpayers very much, if anything at all.
From Dave McDonough, the Wantagh Board of Education received a ration of undeserved blame for the financial mess created in and by the Albany and Washington politicians.
Hopefully, John Brooks does not become discouraged and will decide to run again in two years. If so, maybe we can get behind his campaign efforts and do ourselves some good.
Disappointed,
