I just read this on Newsday - Please tell me it's not true - if it is, it's disgraceful.

Heading out to cover high school football games has been a lot of fun for more than 24 years. There's been very few bad experiences -- but there's been some. But what happened on Saturday afternoon at Garden City will go down as one of the worst experiences ever. A group of Wantagh fans, some members of the Wantagh boys lacrosse team, sitting in the upper portion of the bleachers, thought it was cool to spit on fans and band members as they walked behind the and under the bleachers on the home side of the field. They also thought it was funny to throw garbage and hot chocolate all over the cars in the row of parking spaces by the bleachers. The disgusting behavior needs to be dealt with by the Wantagh principal and staff because I know they don't want these kinds of students representing the Wantagh community.
These miscreants should be ashamed, wearing their school colors and creating such a problem. It's too bad Wantagh chaperones did not intervene. Garden City athletic director Nancy Kalafus, when apprised of the issue, went immediately to the area, and dealt with it. I'm sure the one owner in the 2008 Mercedes could afford a car wash -- but it wasn't necessary. He was incensed at all the spit on his windows. How would those kids feel if it were their cars in those spots? A small group of bad people doesn't paint an ugly picture of an entire community that's just not fair. But it certainly doesn't help.
when you're a guest at another facility -- have some respect.
