Yes, the system is broken, but in my opinion, it is the larger system, the NYS education & school financing system (not to be confused with the NYS Education Department) and not 'Wantagh' that is broken. Feel free to discuss this point.
No, Wantagh does not need the 'slash-and-burn' tactics of Tax Pac, who did not take any responsibility for the lingering, lasting destructive effects of their draconian actions in other districts, and, who were not at all sustainable as board members by the voters in those districts. One former Tax Pac district, Lindenhurst, should serve as fair warning why Wantagh does not need Tax Pac. Please feel free to argue this point.
Why not dump high end administrators? It appears our top-end administrators have taken care of that for you. We are extremely fortunate to have retained Dana DiCapua, who is a consummate professional school business official, through all the upheaval with have seen.
Lousy teachers? Well, that is being addressed by the new APPR, teacher evaluation program. I will be surprised and shocked if there are more that a handful of teachers found to be in need of remedial action as a result of implementing APPR in Wantagh. I suggest we do not spend time speculating about this, here, since real results will only come after APPR is fully implemented.
Khan Academy...I would heartily suggest readers watch the recent CBS News 60-Minutes piece on this. My quote of the year was taken from that broadcast:

Please do watch the CBS 60 Minutes piece, there.
Thank you for raising this innovative concept!
It is important to try to keep discussion threads on-topic.
Thanks.
