Hi, I am new to Wantagh..we just moved here. I have a son who is going into pre-k in sept. and I periodically check the wantagh schools website for news. I noticed today that they are having pre-k screenings at Mandalay tomorrow. It was my understanding that there was no pre k program available. Did this change? I can not find any info anywhere! Thanks in advance!

Such an unfortunate "Welcome to Mandalay" experience. Mandalay is infamous for incomplete, outdated, or simply wrong public information. If anyone were interested in this so-called "Pre-K Screening" at Mandalay, they (you) would have no clue as to what time or where to go for it.
I am pretty sure this refers to Pre Screening for incoming Kindergartners, and not to screening for our non-existent Pre-K program. As to what time and where to report, what to bring (including, perhaps your child), good luck with that. Perhaps you could go check out that expensive LED sign in front of the building, and, of that is of no help, go inside and ask someone.
Welcome to Wantagh!

Welcome to Wantagh nrb457!! Pre-K Screening is a district wide screening for incoming kindergartners. If you look at the Wantagh calendar you will see it is so named by the DISTRICT, not just the Mandalay School. As far as Mandalay being "infamous for incomplete, outdated or simply wrong public information" as well as having"an expensive LED sign in front of the building" I urge you to look past these simply false statements and walk into the school. There you will find a unique environment. The principal, teachers, staff and parents are caring and supportive. Once inside the lobby of Mandalay you soon feel the warmth and support of everyone involved in your child's education. The principal, staff and teachers will soon know your child by name, as they know and care for each and every student in Mandalay, not just their own students. The friendly office staff will be happy to answer any questions you might have and the PTA works hard to make all new families feel welcome. Your child will be cared for, well educated and loved at Mandalay. Personally I think that is much more important than what an "expensive LED sign" says. Welcome to Mandalay!!!
