I'm happy that the budget passed, and passed by a hefty margin. It gives me hope that there are people here who really do want the best for the kids and don't ever want to go through what we went through before. I'm also thrilled that Kera has a seat on the board.

Congratulations Peter!!! Just don't let anyone in the system bully you or brain-wash you into being just a yes man...If you don't like how things are being run, don't be afraid to speak up....As you can see from these bulletin boards, you will be attacked one way or another...I just hope you always do the right thing....

Congrats to the victors. Nice to see some fresh blood. Hopefully they will bring some new perspective and work well with the current board.
And we are already a winner if Lily is speechless

Lilly has been very involved for a long time in this district. She is well aware of the financial constraints, what we can and cannot do and the ins and outs of the budget. She is also one of the biggest advocates for our children, particularly those in the arts. If she is speechless it is not necessarily a good thing.

just because someone won who she did not like, she should act more mature than make a general dismissive comment
There is nothing wrong with change and maybe between Peter and Kera we can get some fresh ideas. It is not as if its the end of the world

It is my hope that we have seven candidates again next year: Mike C, Mike S, Bill Russack, Tom Costello, Don Lang, David Hoffman, Ralph Spagnolo. May be even some others will throw their hat into the ring.....

Thanks for the back-up carolann.
I politely suggest a little dignity here. If you're a student or young adult pretending to be something you're not behind a screenname, say so. And, I just can't even go there on name calling by other (anonymous) adults.
Although I have SERIOUS misgivings about Peter's election for several very legitimate reasons, I won't belabor them. So, congratulations to Kera and Peter.

Lilly, for what its worth, I think the response you got was because you are vocal member on these boards and for you to just state you were speechless gives the impression that you didn't get what you wanted and you are raising your hands in disgust and walking out of the room.
The fact is, if we were going to outline the key attributes we would want in our board members, Peter would most likely miss the mark in several areas. We would probably want someone with: relevant business/financial work experience a homeowner in Wantagh has children in the district an active participant in other school boards/activities who wants what is best for the overall community by balancing our budget & desires to keep taxes low, while maintaining as robust a curriculum as we can offer to our children.
He only has 1 or 2 of those attributes, so he is definitely a big question mark. Hopefully, he does a good job and we can leverage his strengths for the betterment of our BOE.
