Thanks for the info...it's pretty interesting. Would love to understand more of the details behind these numbers. Are the auditors findings / reports ever made public?

Since Mr. D'Angelo was able to secure another position, it is apparent that his difficulties in Wantagh were not so serious. He would not be hired by another district without disclosing all details about his current legal entanglements. In addition, he would not be hired without input from a representative from the Wantagh school district. So as far as what he may have done in the 2 minutes he was employed here, it couldn't have been much. The question now is, how much it will cost Wantagh. The retiring superintendent in Millbrook made 181,000 in 2012. So one would assume, if they hired Mr. D'Angelo at that salary, Wantagh would be on the hook for the differnce, around 50,000 per year for the length of his contract with Wantagh, at a minimum. Personally, I was hoping that he would be unable to secure a position elsewhere and after this legal charade ended, he would return. In that case, he would have the power to stiff arm the board and run the school district as he saw fit. That is what this district needs. So it seems we're back to the same old, same old... The incumbents need to be voted out!

Mr. D'Angelo was hired in Millbrook at $185k. I calculate the difference between Wantagh and Millbrook pay over the 5 years to be about $224k plus the $90.8k we've paid him for the past 4 months = $314.3k (and counting for special investigator, district legal fees and possibly Mr. D'Angelo's legal fees) in potential settlement alone. And/or, if Wantagh doesn't settle, I assume the BOE may be on the hook for a civil suit? Ka-ching, ka-ching, ka-ching.

rr, we have internal and external auditors. I believe a lot is specified by school law. And I believe findings are made public from time to time too. Not really sure of all the details.
